Kenward Trust are Kent’s leading alcohol and drug rehabilitation resettlement centre, based in Yalding near Maidstone in Kent, they accept referrals nationally for their supported accommodation and addiction recovery programmes in Kent and Sussex.

Kenward Trust was founded in 1968 and has been saving lives from alcohol and drugs, homelessness, and crime – for over 50 years.

Their support services and outreach programmes include delivering early education and intervention programmes in schools, right through to residential rehabilitation and supported accommodation to provide a safe home for residents and help them to settle back into communities and continue their journeys of recovery.

History of The Kenward Trust

In 1968, Ray and Violet Sinden owned and operated a family farm in Weald, near Sevenoaks. Violet was driven by her faith and daily prayer. Their eldest daughter, Olive was friends with Church Army Captain Paul Deeming who worked supporting people experiencing homelessness in London – but there was little support or shelter for people who were sober and wished to remain in recovery. Ray offered some of these men a safe home for rehabilitation on the farm in Sevenoaks; in a four-room flat, and joining the family for meals, bible study and leisure activities.

Once the farm became overcrowded, the family sold the farm and purchased the large Kenward country estate, Kenward Place, with 15 acres of farmland and a large house containing 37 rooms – formerly owned by Barnardo’s.

Fast forward to today, and the Kenward Trust now works with over 140 residents each year across five locations along with supporting thousands of young people through the prevention outreach programmes in schools and local communities.
